Growing up in California, there were beautiful roses in my backyard that my dad tended, pruned, and brought in for bouquets. Flowers were easy to grow and many bloomed all year. When we moved to Indiana I had to adjust to a bare winter and cold temperatures – a shorter growing season.
But nothing prepared me for the absolute ONSLAUGHT of spring each year in Indy. The trees get a faint green glow, daffodils appear so suddenly that the first year we were here I thought there was some strange tradition of putting out plastic flowers (lol).

There are flowers that specialize in each week of spring and summer, and the wild flowers are amazing. We walk in a local park each week and the large wildflower field changes dramatically each week. One week it will be covered with yellow flowers, the next week it is white with touches of purple. It gives you this feeling like you can’t possibly miss a week – I’d hate to miss anything!

My macro lens has brought these flowers into shaper and nearly microscopic focus . . . along with their many friends. Often I don’t even know that I’m taking a picture of a critter until I see my results.
We are still only in the beginning of June and there are so many more blooms to come!
